The national cross of Peru signs Benjamin Klemesrud for the 2022 season


(Peru, Neb.)—Earlier this spring, Peru State’s cross country head coach james cole signed Benjamin Klemesrud for the upcoming fall 2022 cross country season.

Klemesrud is from Bassett, Nebraska, where he attended Rock County High School. He competed in cross country for all four years. His parents are Mark and Jane Klemesrud. Klemesrud plans to study biology while attending Peru State College.

He has received numerous accolades at cross country competitions in Rock County. He was an NCPA Academic All-American and All-State in 2021 and was the cross country team captain in 21. Klemesrud wrote cross country in 2020 and 2021. He also ran a 5K with a time from 7:32 p.m.

“I had the opportunity to meet Ben and his mom who is also his cross country coach in high school, twice,” Cole said. “Ben is a courteous young man and had a successful running career at Rock County High School.”

Cole continued…

“With a 5K-PR-of 20:00 minutes, he will fit in well with the rest of the team and has a chance to make our top seven and help push the team towards improvement.”

Cole talked about the upcoming Fall 2022 season…

“Ben is our fifth signer for the 2022 Men’s Cross Country Team and with each addition I get more and more excited for this upcoming season and see how our new and returning riders push each other. .”
