were cremated in the early morning at the hospital of the Naval Medical Center in the Callao region.

In a statement, the ministry said the cremation of the terrorist’s body began at 3:20 a.m. (local time) at the referral hospital and ended at 5:30 a.m. that day.

As the law stipulates, the process took place in the presence of a representative of the prosecution and respecting all the protocols established in the regulations.

It was also pointed out that the Mininter carried out actions of support to the Ministry of Justice-Human Rights for the dispersal of cremated remains in a place and time of a reserved nature, as indicated by law.

Likewise, it was reported that the Ministries of the Interior and of Justice-Human Rights were in charge of the cremation, in the presence of a representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Mininter reaffirmed its commitment to always act in full compliance with the law, as well as in favor of national security and internal order.

She also reminded citizens that on September 17, Law No. 31352 was published which incorporates Article 112-A into Law No. 26842 (General Law on Health).

The rule establishes the destination of the corpses of detainees who had served sentences for crimes of treason or terrorism in their capacity as leaders, ringleaders or essential members of a terrorist organization.

The law provides for cremation after autopsy.

This is stipulated in the case of the corpse of a detainee who has served a sentence and whose delivery, transfer or burial may endanger national security or internal order.
