The head of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), Carlos Canales, said on Saturday that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) was taking very important steps to strengthen tourism, including measures such as the recent lifting of the ban. physical distancing requirement at airports across the country. .
The Canatur official noted that only one flight per hour could land at the airports, which was a very serious limitation since Cusco received up to 34 flights per day before the pandemic.
“We have also witnessed problems in Juliaca, precisely because of these types of restrictions. For this reason, lifting the physical distance requirement at airports will be a reactivation measure for the tourism industry,” said he declared.
According to Canales, this measure will promote the improvement of competitiveness and the use of space in the terminals.
In addition, this will promote the resumption of more flights to provinces across the country and, consequently, the arrival of more flights at Jorge Chavez International Airport.
The head of Canatur affirmed that thanks to this measure, domestic tourism will increase by 50%.
