The team of experts responsible for the archaeological site of Kuelap has prepared a proposal to create a new internal tourist circuit, which aims to guarantee the safety of visitors and the protection of said monument located in the Amazonas rainforest region, has reported the Ministry of Culture.

The government agency said the proposal was being reviewed by the Decentralized Directorate of Culture (DDC) of the Amazonas region.

Subsequently, the document will be sent to the Decentralized Directorate of the National Institute of Civil Protection (Indeci) of the said region for opinion.

The Ministry of Culture reported that the new head of the Decentralized Directorate of Culture (DDC) of Amazonas, Jesus Esther Lozano Maldonado, carried out a complete inspection of the archaeological monument last Friday, April 22.

During the inspection, Lozano focused on the affected area, following the collapse of the boundary wall on April 10, located in the eastern sector of the southern boundary wall to determine whether to reopen the monument. to the public.

Following the collapse of such a wall, visits to Kuelap have been suspended until the safety of visitors is guaranteed.

Kuelap is the main tourist attraction in Amazonas and northeastern Peru.

Various international publications such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal single it out as an important destination that stands out among others for its prominent architectural beauty, as well as its privileged view and geography.
