In the last many years, I have used my own textbook “Basics of Compiler Design”, which I have decided to make available online.

There was a great deal of mathematical notation and equations, presented with very little explanation; I’d characterize this book as a ‘math-out’. After studying this self-contained textbook, students should understand the compilation process, be able to write a simple real compiler, and easily follow advanced books on the subject.
The edition of Basics of Compiler Design will stay available on this page, but will not be updated any further. While discussing various compilation techniques, the author demonstrates their implementation through this case study. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.

This book does, however, have some positive qualities. Thanks for telling us about the problem. Each new edition has fixed errors and rephrased some explanations. A large number of technical diagrams are furnished, and they are visually appealing and readable.
