Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation, health or related field and coaching experience required, master’s degree preferred. Must have knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations. Must have the ability to work in an environment where the education, well-being and graduation of student-athletes is a priority. Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills required. Strong communication, administrative, organizational and computer skills are required. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse student population, many of whom are first generation students. Prior gaming experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
Main tasks and responsibilities: Primary duties include serving as a junior varsity coach to include training and skill development sessions and will also serve as a senior assistant in varsity. Will assist the Head Coach in scouting, talent assessment and recruitment to achieve an optimal number of players. Will help monitor and support the academic achievement and retention of student-athletes. Will provide training, direction, and encouragement in preparing student-athletes in team building, team strategy, and sportsmanship. Analyze player performance and teach student-athletes playing strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. The individual should be a positive role model for student-athletes and have a commitment to the College’s mission and values. Other duties may be assigned by the Head Coach (i.e. helping to organize community service activities for the team, assisting with fundraising, planning camps and participating in Champions of character). This position is exempt with respect to the overtime provisions of the RSA. This position is covered by the NSCPA negotiated agreement.
