Iquitos Weather and Climate

Iquitos has a warm and exotic climate with an average temperature of 28' C. The rainforest year is divided into two periods: the rain season where water rises due to heavy rainfalls which lasts from January until the end of May, and the dry season from June to December where rainfall is much smaller, and water levels return to normal heights. Although hot, rainfall tends to be scattered and unexpected, so raincoats are a necessity for this trip!

The recommended best time to visit Iquitos is towards the end of June, particularly June 24th for the Feast of San Juan Bautista (John the Baptist). The feast is celebrated throughout the city with parades and gatherings covering the streets and children celebrating along the riverbank. It is a cultural celebration with colorful displays, native music, and traditional food of the region.
